Was it Worth it? The health effects of alcohol and gambling

28 October, 11am - 3pm, The Moor Market, 77 The Moor, ΞΆΓάΘ¦ S1 4PF

ΞΆΓάΘ¦ is home to one of the world's leading research centres for public health research on alcohol - the ΞΆΓάΘ¦ Alcohol Research Group (SARG). The centre's research plays a central role in current policy and public debate and provides a key evidence base for debates around drinking guidelines.

Pop down to the Moor Market where researchers from the centre will be running an interactive activity stand exploring the impacts of alcohol consumption and gambling on health and wellbeing. Try your hand at pouring a one-unit drink, go on a virtual night out, and put your knowledge to the test with a quickfire quiz.

You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It - Making small changes for healthier eating

9 November 2023, 3.30pm, Soft Ground, 37-41 The Moor, ΞΆΓάΘ¦ S1 4PF

This interactive event highlights how small changes to food preparation can improve our diets, health and overall life chances. Our modern-day diets are often dominated by high-fat and sugary foods such as white bread and soft drinks while being low on fruit, vegetables and fibre. The event will show you how to change traditional Yorkshire foods for healthier versions that don't compromise on taste and are affordable.

Led by Dr Viren Ranawana and Dr Tanefa Apekey.
